In an article titled "Trump agency tasked with transition process has yet to recognize Biden's victory", CNN flatly states that GSA Spokesperson Pamela Pennington inaccurately compared the 2020 election to the election of 2000.
Pennington told CNN that "An ascertainment has not yet been made" and apparently compared the 2020 election to the 2000 election. An ascertainment is required to release funds to aide in the Presidential transition, in this case the transition of power from Donald Trump to Joe Biden.
CNN appears to have premised it's claim on a former GSA official who called this election "dramatically different".
One GSA official calling the election "dramatically different" does not correctly indicate that Pennington's comparison is inaccurate. Moreover, it is a relative opinion.
CNN appears to be overly focused on "fraudulent claims" while simultaneously ignoring the fact that in at least two jurisdictions, there are legal provisions already in place that allow a recount due to the margins.
Whereas the two elections are dramatically different, for example, the 2000 election involved only one state with a close vote tally whereas 2020 has several, they share the same basic premise.
For that reason, CNN is misleading and making a false claim in claiming Pennington inaccurately made that comparison.
