...it’s incorrect for Biden to say he opposed the war “from the very beginning.” Along with every other senator present, Biden voted to launch the war in the first place, three days after the 9/11 attacks.
However, this is a relative opinion based on Biden's vote on a bill which did not explicitly name Afghanistan as the country of which the United States had declared war.
What the bill actually said was:
To authorize the use of United States Armed Forces against those responsible for the recent attacks launched against the United States.
This was a 98-0 vote in favor of this bill, and regardless, a vote to authorize such action does not reflect a personal opinion of whether or not they are in agreement for a particular bill.
In fact, congress members routinely concede and vote for bills they expressly do not disagree with as a matter of compromise.
PF offers no evidence of Biden being in support of the Afghan war beyond this vote and as such this is both misleading and a False Fact Check.
Summary
POLITIFACT claims that President Joe Biden falsely claims he was against the Afghan war, however, provides no evidence that Biden approved of it and is a relative opinion.
